Retro Challenge!

My entry to the Retro Challenge has been accepted.

1. Create a media center computer with a Power Macintosh 6100. You’ve heard of the 6100av and 6100dos – I will endeavor to create the 6100mc.

2. Serial for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Put together a Power Computing Mac clone with a large number of serial ports using hardware/software based switch boxes, internal cards, and an external adapter.

3. Learn about serial connectivity and transferring files from Apple ][s to vintage Macs to PDAs and so on.

Looking over my fellow challenger's entries - I think I may be using the most "modern" machine - though wgoodf will be using a Powerbook 540c which was released after the 6100 debuted.

But the 6100 is 14 years old, and I will be doing some things with even older equipement, but still - I've got to work that much harder to make something really really cool.

Hey!

The 6100 is probably my favourite Powermac! I have a couple myself (including one with a 233MHz G3 card!) and absolutely love 'em.

Good luck to ya!
